Prayer and players

Junaid lives in a fishing village in Kerala. In the afternoon he likes to go to the beach to play football with his friends. They meet under the coconut trees, which provide shade from the hot afternoon sun.
Soon all his friends are there and they start playing. They form two groups, Team White and Team Black and decide to have a match. They are really having fun trying to get the ball into the goal. They have set up four temporary sticks on each side of their playing area to mark the goal area. How many sticks are they using altogether to mark both the goal areas?

It is really hot and they are sweating, their T-shirts are wet, but what fun they are having. Team White is winning with 2 goals. Team Black is desperately trying to get their first goal.

Soon Junaid hears the Adhan (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar…..) for 'Asar prayer and recites the supplication of Adhan. He recalls his father's advice, "My son, when you hear the Azan, stop whatever you are doing and go and perform your prayer. Allah Almighty is more important then anything you are doing in this world." He remembers the verse he memorized yesterday.

And I (Allah) have not created the 'jinn' and human beings except that they should worship (Serve) Me (alone) ( Ŝurat 51:56).

Junaid always tries to remind himself that since he has been created to worship (serve) Allah he should never delay his prayer just so that he can continue playing.

Junaid now remembers his mother's advise, "Junaid, your times in this utilize for the next world. Do not be bothered, with what others say. Do what is important to you. If you're going for prayer will make some people upset as it interrupts their fun, ignore what they say. Remember, Allah The Great is more important than them." This time Junaid remembers his mother's favorite verse.
“And we did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for mere play" (Ŝurat Ad Dukhan 44:38).

Junaid knows that Allah the most high created him to worship Him and not just to play and have fun. Junaid knows that he must stop playing to do his prayer.

He says: I seek protection in Allah from Satan (evils), the rejected one. He knows that Satan (evils) will make him forget to do his prayer by making him think playing is more fun. So he must ask Allah's help to fight evils and his whisperings.

Junaid looks around, no one is stopping. Everyone is playing excitedly. Junaid knows that they will be upset if the game is stopped suddenly.

Junaid decides to stop playing. He signals to the teams that he is going for prayer. They all run towards him irritated by his action. They say, "Junaid, you can do your prayer after the game. 'Asar prayer can be perform until 6.30 p.m., come on lets continue this game".

Junaid says, "For me prayer on time is very important. Remembering Allah Almighty is more urgent then anything in this world. You can play, if playing is so important to you. I am going to the Masjid to remember Allah".

Some of the boys start playing again. Five of the boys are about to play when they change their minds and follow Junaid. Soon another eight boys also stop playing and run towards Junaid, 'Alhamdulillah'. Altogether how many boys are now going to the Masjid to perform 'Asar?

As soon as prayer is over the boys begin their game again. Team Black is really working hard and soon they get five goals and are declared the winners. Team White gets only three goals. By how many goals did Team Black win over Team White?

Junaid and his friends go home feeling tired but happy.

On the way to home he sees a stall selling fresh sugar cane juice. He loves to watch the man make the juice. Squish, squish, the juice comes out with force and sprays Junaid right on his face. Junaid ducks again to avoid been sprayed. The seller laughs at Junaid's antics. Junaid drinks the juice in three gulps after saying, "Bismilla." "Umm, umm, this is sweet and cooling, Alhamdulillah" says Junaid as he quenches his thirst.

Junaid gives the seller 200 Indian Rupees, the drink cost 10 INR. How much change will Junaid get?

Junaid arrives home and greets his parents, "Assalamualaikum".

Junaid tells his father what happened during the game... His father is very happy and says, "Junaid, do you know that you will get two rewards from Allah. One is for the prayer you did. The second reward is for being a good model. When you went to do your prayer, your friends followed your example and also did their Asar prayer, Alhamdulillah."
